Very sad indeed. Bootlegzone had a great wealth of information. I wonder why
it was closed?

None of you apparently have the slightest idea how incredibly
expensive it is to maintain a site that uses the kind of bandwidth
Bootlegzone used.

Yeah, but there are NO other websites like that. NONE. All of us Beatleg
collectors are completely fucked now.

Tilleul doesn't update for like, four years... then just shows up to close
the site down unannounced? That motherfucker.

I want to repeat the request to check your browser caches and maybe
even backups
you might have of this or anything you saved - especially the forum,
which is personally
my main concern.

I already think about re-opening a forum. This time we should make
sure that
nothing like this happens. The Bootlegzone Auction Team gathered money
to
make the purchase of tapes possible - a fine example what trust and a
sense of
community can do. Why not doing the same to get us our own forum/zone?
Or even better: Our own server. With a membership-fee low enough for
everybody
to bear and and high enough to maintain the costs. And only open to
members,
so the Blue Meanies won`t be able to give us shit. A private fan-club
so to say.
One that doesn`t need a licence to serve alcohol nor to trade boots if
that is
what it brought down.

Please reply to: "***@gmx"
And don`t forget to add ".de" to the end.

As for the costs: Yeah, tilleul did a lot of us running this site all
the years.
There has been discussion how to maintain it and one try to solve this
was
the adding of a donation-button, a paypal affair IIRC. However this
button
was out of function a long time - even IF someone wanted to donate it
wouldn`t have been possible. I`m amazed of the action taken by tilleul
as not too long ago when the forum was hacked a new version was
installed
within in day or two without any message or lifesign from whoever did
it.
So why did he (have to?) end being a good angel if you allow me this
comparision? I think there are other reasons than just lacking care.

this is a total catastrophe. i was in the midst of several trades &
now have lost contact information, addresses, etc etc. in addition,
i'm not aware of any other network for collectors that was as thorough
and comprehensive as bootlegzone. if bootlegzone is gone for good, i
definitely think some kind of replacement site should be set up, and i
would be happy to contribute financially. that site was just such an
incredible resource.

I got this link from someone I traded with on BZ. Nothing, yet, but
maybe promising.

This is sad. That site had a wealth of information, and cover scans,
unavailable elsewhere. There's simply nothing else like it on the Web...

This is a catastrophy - all the community - all the discussions - all
the information gathered over the years - gone.
I can`t believe it. I already tried waybackmachine to check if at
least the forum could be saved but to no avail.
Very depressed.

Now come on, just because it isn't there NOW doesn't mean it's not gonna be
back, the server might just be down. I mean, it was there last night with
no mention of it going down for good.
