Hmm, well, we know George respected Clapton's more skillfull
playing. Clapton was tasteful in the 60s, though. I'm not sure I'd say that about Prince here.

There have been debates on this in here before. One problem I have is that everyone else onstage is performing a tribute to George and to the original song; Prince is trying to make the performance about himself. I read up on the whole thing. Before he agreed to participate, Prince insisted that he had to be allowed to "own it."

And what's that with him throwing his Telecaster up and it not coming down? Is he implying that George's spirit was hovering above, waiting to catch the guitar?

I've seen a lot of different takes on Clapton's solo. Elliot Easton, formerly of the Cas, did a good one. My favorite was a version by Joe Walsh.
