I gave this Netflix series a try while changing my guitar strings this
morning. The episode that came up turned out to be about Spector and
the murder of Lana Clarkson. It was alright, and answered a few nagging
questions I had about events.

Clarkson had no idea who Spector was when he entered the Hollywood club
where she worked when between acting gigs. In fact, she initially
attempted to decline serving him. "Do you know who I am?" he asked,
"I'm Phil Spector." "I'm sorry, Mrs. Spector," she said to him, "but I
can't serve you." Clarkson's coworers intervened, instructing her to
"treat him like gold."

So why did Clarkson accompany Spector to his limo? Because he had
gotten drunk and was unable to get to the car on his own. For some
reason -- likely her coworkers' instruction -- Clarkson agreed to visit
Spector's mansion. Upon reaching it, she said to Spector's driver,
"Hold on; this will be quick."

Yet *hours* passed before the driver heard the sound of a gun going off.

Creepily, Spector had had the lock to his door set up so that visitors
could not exit without his help.

Clarkson eventually fell asleep, and that was the point at which Spector
shot her.

The episode of Hollywood Homicide also got into Spector's threats
against John Lennon (which he didn't realize the seriousness of) and
Leonard Cohen.

One of the police officers who arrived at the scene of Spector's mansion
mentioned that it was crawling with rats and cockroaches. Clarkson's
last hours must have been horrible; I don't see how she had fallen
asleep unless Spector got her drunk, too.
